I should be at a meeting...

... but instead I stayed at work and was running the tasting room. It's a peaceful, not busy sort of evening. Not good for lots of dollars, but great to connect with the customers.

My favorite kind of night here.

Time to talk about the beers and see what they think.

We had brought the BBQ back in this weekend, so I ran to the store and got some chicken legs and John is cooking them up. I toasted up some bread on the BBQ too. It was cheesy bread, so it was toasty and tasty.

Nice.

See you next time!

Small things can be good things

There's been some not so good things happening here -- like the used forklift we bought in October has taken a major dump and is basically unusable. So it is out to get fixed. And of course it is costing WAY more than I first heard it would.

It was a sows ear painted to be a silk purse as the old saying goes.

But it was still a pigs ear.

Anyway-- it is off to get fixed and there's been no brewing going on here. Already been two weeks. Ugh. Lots of cleaning going on. But we need more beer in the tanks.

So I rented a forklift. Ordered a 6000 pound capacity one.

We went out to lunch yesterday and actually ate at the restaurant. Yummy food, but of course two of our salespeople and the forklift all arrived while we were gone.

Really? We weren't gone that long. So we rushed back.

When I looked at the forklift, I thought it looked small. So I called. And they laughed and said I hate it when women say that. So I thought well ooookay....

But when Paul came today he said-- wow that is way too small. So I called the rental place and sure enough it was the wrong one. So the right one will be here in an hour.

So that was a good thing. They are fixing it. Bringing the right sized one so Paul can brew and be happier.

Some beer will be burbling away in the tanks, making a happy noise. A small specialty batch of boch beer is in the brew kettle right now.

More Macaroon Nut Brown to be brewed on Tuesday/Wednesday... after the grain arrives on Monday.

Now we just need a bunch of dollars to roll in to pay for the forklift repair. So come on by and buy some pints or bottles or growler fills of beer. Lots of goodness on tap.

Cheers!

Changing Points of View

It was a long day. Yesterday now since it's 3:57 am. Too much stuff going on. When I finally managed to drag myself home, all I could do was crawl into bed. Exhausted. Beaten down by my day and the overwhelming perceptions I had.

Then, while writing back to an email from my husband, who had mentioned he was sorry my day was so hard, I said - "well really, there were good things too."

And there were.

I signed my dad out of the interim care facility and took him home. He looked tired, but much happier settled into his favorite chair at home.

His wife agreed it was time to move into an assisted living facility. We were worried she was not ready to go. But she didn't want to be at her home without him. Yay! Now we just need to find the right place.

Nice people came into the brewery. They'd never been in before. They liked the beers.

A small keg blew and there weren't any more sixtiles to replace it. Agh! But I tried the new line cleaner and moved another small keg over to that spot and put a 15.5 in the place the second beer was. Only my second time cleaning the lines on the kegerator. And it worked fine! All by myself.

Except I couldn't lift the 15.5 into the big kegerator by myself. Lucky for me one of our customers came in and he helped me lift it in.

Another friend came in and said anytime my husband could not be there and I needed help to let him know and he would help out.

We had a band in to play and the music was great.

And I am sure there were a lot more small positive events that happened all day long.

Yes it was a long hard day and I had some feelings of being overwhelmed. But now, looking back I think - well really it was ok. And I am fine, just a bit tired.

See you tomorrow.
Cheers!
